Here for the Dental Needs of Your Whole Family

During the different phases of our lives, our dental needs change. At Define Dental Clinic, we’ll look after everyone in your family. The patience and supportive nature we demonstrate while delivering dental treatments means that regardless of the age of the person sitting in our dental chair, a stress-free experience is guaranteed.

Early identification and prevention are key in dealing with many of the enduring dental issues experienced throughout our lives. For example, during early childhood, prolonged thumbsucking can cause the jaw and other bones in the face to grow abnormally.

Through assessment at an early age, we’ll be able to monitor the development of your child’s jaw. This will give us advanced opportunities to intervene with early orthodontic treatments that discourage issues with your child’s facial structure. This may include temporarily using thumb guards or orthodontic cribs to break thumb sucking habits and avert the need for future treatment.

For orthodontic issues as your child gets older, we provide both discrete and advanced treatments that may mean your child can avoid having to wear fixed metal braces.

Keeping you up to date with developments in your child’s oral health is central in what we do, and we’ll always provide you with information and resources to support your understanding of their needs.

We’re here to help your children develop healthy oral health practices. Book an appointment today.

Cavities and Fillings

Sensitivity and toothache are often signs that there is trouble brewing and that tooth decay is present. When bacteria feeds on sugar and starch in your mouth and plaque forms, acid erosion and cavities soon follow. To repair these and prevent further decay, we may suggest having a filling.

Getting a filling is a relatively straightforward process. We’ll start by gently numbing the affected area and giving you a local anaesthetic. Next, we’ll use a drill to remove the decayed part of your tooth before we fill it with a hard wearing tooth-coloured resin. Once we’re happy with the filling, we’ll polish it so that it’s smooth.

In all, the procedure is short and there is no downtime. After your anaesthetic wears off, you can go about your day as you normally would.

Don’t let your toothache fester and become a bigger issue. Schedule your appointment today.

Root Canal Treatment

Untreated dental decay will penetrate into your tooth and the bacteria will be allowed to infect the ‘pulp’ inside your tooth that stretches down into the root canals. Having an endodontic procedure known as a root canal treatment may save the tooth from necrosis, prevent an abscess from forming, and reduce the potential need for extraction.

Each tooth has two parts. Above the gumline, you have the crown. Below the gums lies the root. These extend into your jaw and anchor the tooth in place. Each root is filled with tissue and blood vessels.

When your root canals are infected, any inflamed or infected tissue needs to be removed along with the bacteria causing you harm.

Ahead of your root canal treatment, we’ll carry out an examination and take x-rays. This will allow us to see how deep the infection has penetrated.

Before we start the root canal treatment, we’ll administer local anaesthetic so that you don’t experience pain and discomfort during the procedure. Once you’re numbed, we’ll create a small hole in your tooth so that we can extract the infected pulp.

After this has been excavated, we’ll use a rubber material called a gutta-percha to plug the area. We’ll then close the entry hole with a filling. We may need to see you again after the procedure for a follow-up. This will allow us to place a natural-looking crown onto the tooth to protect it and restore its appearance.

Although they may have a reputation for being scary, root canal treatments are routine and have a very high rate of success. Having a root canal treatment may mean you can avoid further procedures.

If you’re worried that you may have an infected tooth, schedule an appointment with our friendly endodontic practitioner today.

Oral Hygiene

Fantastic looking teeth don’t stay that way without considerable effort. The best way to keep your teeth looking healthy is to get into good habits when it comes to your oral health. To achieve this, we’d suggest visiting our dental hygienist here at Define Dental Clinic.

Visiting our hygienist on a regular basis will help us check that your teeth and gums are in good health, that your smile shines, and your breath remains fresh.

During your appointment, we’ll carry out a full clean, descale, and polish. Our expert hygienist will remove tartar and help refresh your teeth.

But a visit to the hygienist isn’t just about getting your teeth professionally cleaned, our team will also take the time to talk to you about ways you can improve your hygiene routine so that you can maintain your stunning smile when you get home. This may involve giving tips on diet, techniques, and products.

A regular trip to see your dental hygienist will also mean that any dental problems could get picked up early allowing you to get interventive treatments before any serious damage is done.

If I had the choice of rating Define any higher, I definitely would! All the staff there are lovely, respectful and always happy to help! I had Dr Sunny & Faye to help and carry out my composite bonding journey. From my first appointment they were so helpful, trying to gain an insight into what I want in order to achieve my dream smile. I had my final appointment this week to polish and complete my smile, and I am over the moon with the results. Couldn’t recommend Define enough! Thank you all! :))
